Sr. Engineer | PM | Mechanical
Jon Whittaker is a well-rounded, insightful, and quick-thinking mechanical engineer. He participates directly in the preparation of design drawings and specifications, feasibility reports, opinions of probable construction cost, and construction field observations. He utilizes his experience with custom air handler design, DDC control systems, energy recovery and geothermal systems in the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional and educational facilities. Jon has a broad portfolio of design experience involving both mechanical and plumbing systems. He also is proficient in detailed energy modeling using computer modeling software for energy analysis and LEED certification.
Jon’s project experience includes MEP renovation projects up to $6 million, and new construction ranging up to $100 million in construction cost. He has served as lead engineer and lead construction administrator on numerous projects and has built a particular expertise in both university and K-12 education markets. His experience has provided him with an understanding of the practical aspects of equipment needs and construction methods, and he offers a cooperative coordination approach with construction managers, general contractors and major subcontractors.
Jon has developed a reputation for efficient yet high quality design. A quick learner, Jon uses new information to provide tangible savings to his clients when encountering potential issues, learning new software and applying innovative approaches to energy efficiency. Additionally, Jon’s flexibility in design and his collaborative relationship with owners and team members are invaluable to a project’s success.
On a personal note, Jon is an avid board gamer and Lego builder. He is a big fan of the Austin experience in general, which he loves to enjoy with his wife and his ginormous, white dog.
